No Hate Speech: Prohibited material includes racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, agism, body shaming.
No Punching Down: Jokes should not target, marginalize, or mock groups with less societal power. Feel free to "punch up" at the powerful.
Safety & Inclusion: The goal is to provide a space where everyone feels safe, including both performers and audience members.
Violation of the terms can result in the host ending your set early or you being excluded from future Nu-Glitter mics at both locations.
Attendance: PLEASE DO NOT NO SHOW. If you must cancel, message us on instagram @nu_glitter. Multiple NO SHOWS may have consequences. 😀
General Open Mic Etiquette
Time Limits: Performers typically receive 3–4 minutes to showcase their material. Mind the light. Repeatedly running the light is.... a problem.
Respect the Hosts and the Venue: Follow the rules set by the host and the venue. Be kind. Buy something (if you can). Tip.
Be an Audience Member: Please consider being an audience member a part of participating in an open mic. Where possible, plan to watch other comics and stay beyond the end of your set (you want people there when you perform, and it is kind to do the same for others). Everyone appreciates it and it contributes to the loving and supportive atmosphere we are trying to create at Nu-Glitter ❤️. Obviously, if you are booked on a show, get outta there! We're JEALOUS!
Be Sober-ish: Don't be so drunk/high that you can't go up and do a coherent set. If it happens repeatedly, you will be banned.
